Flood advisories remain in effect this morning for many areas, including Monmouth and northern Ocean counties, until 8:30 a.m. Heavy showers could cause flooding along the Shore and inland, the National Weather Service advisory said.
"Runoff from heavy rainfall will cause spotty poor drainage flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, street and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots," the advisory said.
A similar flood advisory for much of Central Jersey ended at 7:30 a.m.
A dense fog advisory is also in effect until 2 p.m. for the waters from Sandy Hook to Cape May. Visibility could be less than one mile and inexperienced boaters and small vessels are cautioned to stay off the water, according to the National Weather service.
The cold front is expected to move off the coast of New Jersey by early Tuesday, bringing an end to the showers and thunderstorms for the area, the forecast said.
