Christian Powell, 52, was found guilty of 22 charges.

WOODBURY -- A Toms River man has been convicted of 22 charges connected to the sexual assault of his step-daughter, according to the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office.

Christian Powell, 52, was found guilty of seven first-degree charges, 12 second-degree charges and three third-degree offenses Thursday.

His now-19-year-old victim testified in the trial describing how he abused her for two years while she was in sixth through eighth grades, the prosecutor's office said. The abuse began while the family lived in Riverton and continued through their residence in Deptford.

Powell will be evaluated at the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center before his sentencing and Judge Robert P. Becker revoked his $200,000 bail.
