Silt from a storm drain is also polluting the water
TOMS RIVER -- Food grease and cooking oil dripped from a dumpster and through a storm drain before winding up in the Barnegat Bay, according to News 12 New Jersey.
The leak stemmed from a garbage bin near an ACME grocery store, the report said.
While that problem has been solved, the Department of Environmental Protection told the station a storm drain in the Ortley Beach section of Toms River is leaking silt into the bay. The silt is expected to eventually disperse.
