TOMS RIVER -- A Toms River man convicted of raping and murdering a 13-year-old girl in 1985 has been arrested after police said he failed to meet the terms of his recent release from prison.

Shawn Milne, 46, was charged Wednesday with two counts of failing to register under Megan's Law for not notifying local police of his current address and employment, the Toms River Police Department said in a statement Thursday.

Milne was released from prison last year after serving a 30-year sentence in South Woods State Prison in Bridgeton for murder. He was tried as an adult when he was 15-years-old and found guilty in the death of Barbara Harrison.

Milne was sentenced to serve an additional 10 years for rape, but was released early on good behavior. He was not required to be under supervision after being set free, according to previous reports.

Police brought Milne to Ocean County Jail, where he remains on $25,000 bail. Milne faces up to five years in prison and a fine up to $15,000 for each charge.
