BERKELEY TWP. -- Police seized nearly 1,300 bags of heroin and arrested three township residents after searching a home on Tuesday, authorities said.
Following a multi-agency investigation, authorities arrested John Irizarry, 35; Marissa Pyle, 29; and Jacqueline Armenia, 54, all of the same residence in Berkeley, Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato announced on Wednesday.
When police entered the residence on Sylvan Lake Boulevard on a search warrant, Irizarry began fighting with detectives, Coronato said. He was subdued and placed under arrest, the prosecutor said.
After searching the home, police found approximately 1,280 bags of heroin, prescription narcotics and drug paraphernalia, Coronato said.
Irizarry was charged with possession of heroin, possession of heroin over one half ounce with intent to distribute, aggravated assault on a police officer and resisting arrest. He was taken to the Ocean County jail in lieu of $200,000 cash bail.
Pyle and Armenia were both charged with possession of heroin and possession of heroin over one half ounce with intent to distribute. Pyle was additionally charged with one count of distribution of heroin.
Pyle was taken to Ocean County jail and bail was set at $150,000 cash only. She also received an additional $50,000 bail with no 10-percent option for the distribution of heroin charge.
Armenia was lodged in the Ocean County jail and bail was set at $100,000 with no 10-percent option.
