Pedestrian struck near liquor store in Brick

The pedestrian was walking on Lanes Mill Road shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday morning.

BRICK TOWNSHIP -- A pedestrian was hospitalized after he was hit by a car early Sunday morning, police said.

Patrick Brennan, 26, of Brick, was walking on Lanes Mill Road in front of Brick Town Liquors shortly after 3 a.m. when he was hit by a 2012 Chrysler 200 traveling in the southbound lane, police said.

Police said the driver, Joseph Lewis, 34, of Lakewood, immediately called 911 and waited for officers to arrive at the scene.

Brennan was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune and was treated for a head injury.

Lanes Mill Road was closed to traffic in the area of Stephan Road for nearly three hours, police said.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone who witnessed it is asked to call the Brick Township Police Department's Traffic Safety Unit at 732-262-1140.
