5 weekend events for food lovers in N.J. and N.Y.C.

Beer, bacon, barbecue, wine, and Champagne are all part of a delicious weekend.

This "Beer, Bacon and BBQ Showdown" is the first festival to feature New Jersey-only craft beer, restaurants, food trucks and chefs with a mouth-watering array of barbecue and bacon creations available for purchase. The VIP hour ($95) takes place Saturday, from noon to 1 p.m., with general admission ($65) following from 1 to 5 p.m.. All tickets include unlimited tastings and a souvenir tasting glass. Attendees can also vote on the People's Choice Award for best beer at the festival. Hot Rod's Real Pit BBQ (Wharton), Kimchi Smoke Barbecue (Hackensack), NJ Bar & Grill (Mine Hill), Smokin Chicks Got Wood BBQ (Bridgewater), Oink & Moo BBQ (Florham Park), Miller's Ale House (Woodbridge), and Sullivan Catering (Budd Lake) are just a handful of the confirmed food vendors. A panel of celebrity judges, including NJ.com's Pete Genovese, will be hand to determine the best offerings. The event will benefit the Newton Fire Museum. STREET EATS

Foodies are coming together for the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa's biggest foodie night of the year. Savor Borgata Presents Street Eats: Savor the World is taking place Saturday, 8 to 10 p.m.. It's the culmination of two days of food-tastic events taking place around the property -- and the one event where guests will be able to find all of the celebrity chefs in the same room. Iron Chefs Bobby Flay and Geoffrey Zakarian, along with Wolfgang Puck, Stephen Kalt and Michael Schulson will be on hand, along with live entertainment and culinary demonstrations. One Borgata Way, Atlantic City. 

BOBBY FLAY ON STAGE 

Why stay home and watch Bobby Flay on television when he will be live on stage doing a culinary demonstration? Part of Savor Borgata Weekend, Chef Flay will be preparing some of the most celebrated recipes from his newest cookbook, "Brunch @ Bobby's" Saturday at 2 p.m. No food will be provided. Tickets are $25. The Music Box at The Borgata. (A book signing will follow at 3:30 at 28 West.) One Borgata Way, Atlantic City.

LA FETE DU CHAMPAGNE

This one requires crossing a bridge or driving through a tunnel, but it's too big not to include on our list. The second annual La Fete du Champagne is taking place Thursday through Sunday in New York City, and it is considered to be the ultimate Champagne event in the United States, hosting more than 30 of best producers and growers from around the world. GRAPE ADVENTURE WINE FESTIVAL

No, Six Flags Great Adventure is not changing its name, but it is a catchy title for this weekend's big event at the park. Taking place Saturday and Sunday, 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., this event will include plenty of sipping and sampling, with 14 New Jersey vineyards offerings tastes of nearly 150 locally-produced wines and five food trucks serving up a variety of offerings from empanadas to BBQ. Tickets are $20.99, but do not include park admission. (Additional packages, including an upgraded safari package, are also available.) Great Adventure, Route 537, Jackson.
