MANCHESTER -- A trio of alleged house burglars were arrested following a three-week investigation and now stand accused of stealing a safe filled with money and jewelry from a township home, police announced on Wednesday.

The investigation started on Nov. 20 after officers from the Manchester Police Department responded to a report of a burglary in the Whitney Estates section of the township.

Police learned a safe containing money and valuable jewelry had been stolen from the home.

Manchester police Capt. Todd Malland said officers, acting on investigative leads, located the safe partially submerged in nearby Pine Lake. The officers were able to rescue some of the stolen possessions that were inside the safe, Malland said.

The safe was then taken to the police department's Investigation Bureau, where detectives were able to link three "subjects of interest" to the burglary, Malland said.

Police identified those subjects as Mia Dentico, 49, of Seaside Park, Joseph Comiso, 23, of Toms River, and Mohamed Olivo, 26, of the Bronx, N.Y.

Police first located Dentico, which led them to recover more stolen items, Malland said. After "numerous" interviews and other investigative efforts, police charged each of the "subjects of interest" with burglary and theft.

Dentico was arrested first and taken to the Ocean County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.

The arrest of Dentico led Comiso and Olivo to flee to New York, Malland said.

Comiso returned to the Seaside Heights area and was arrested by authorities after police received a tip he was back in the area, according to Malland.

Police have not yet located and arrested Olivo as of Wednesday morning.

Malland asked that anyone with information on Olivo's whereabouts to call Manchester police at 732-657-6111.
