Stuart Brown, of Yorkshire England, told app.com he threw five bottled messages during a trip on an ocean liner to New York from Southampton.

The identity of the person whose message in a bottle landed on Long Beach Island has been reportedly been uncovered.

App.com contacted the author of the message, Stuart Brown, of Yorkshire, England, who said he threw five bottled messages during a trip on an ocean liner to New York from Southampton.

Vince Stango was walking his dogs in Harvey Cedars when he found the bottle with the note that said: "Found the bottle? Read this note? I'm Stuart, if you wish, call or mail me. Speak or mail soon. England Stuart."

Stango and Brown exchanged several text messages before app.com made contact with Brown.

Brown, a retired engineer, told app.com he threw the bottled messages because he likes to "get in touch with people."
