MANCHESTER  --The forest fire that burned about 570 acres in Ocean County has been deemed 100 percent contained, officials said Monday.

The blaze in Greenwood Forest Wildlife Management Area didn't cause any damage to property nor did it lead to any evacuations, according to Department of Environmental Protection spokesman Bob Considine.

Crews are still monitoring the remnants of the fire and will strengthen containment lines as needed, the spokesman said.

Firefighters finished backfiring operations by dark Sunday and two engines monitored the fire overnight, officials added.
