JACKSON -- A 22-year-old Neptune resident was shot early Thursday at a mobile home community, police said.
The victim, whom police did not identify, suffered a wound to his abdominal area and was treated and released from Community Medical Center in Toms River, Jackson police Sgt. Christopher Parise said in a statement.
Officers were at the Luxury Mobile Home Community, located off Toms River Road (Route 571), shortly after midnight when they heard a "number of gun shots" coming from Coleman way, Parise said.
When police arrived on that street, they encountered residents on the street. They also found numerous .40-cal shell casings and found bullet holes in a mobile home that was occupied at the time, Parise said.
Police then received a call from Community Medical Center that a 22-year-old man who was the victim of a shooting was in the emergency room, Parise said.
No arrests were made.
Police are asking anyone with information to call Jackson police Detective John Rodriguez at 732-833-3008 or call the Jackson Police Department tip line at 732-833-3032.
