The UCLA-bound senior from Donovan Catholic has one more month to go. What will she do next?

Donovan Catholic thrower Alyssa Wilson now has the mark to back up her claim as the best high school shot putter in the history of the sport.

Her mark of 57-1 1/2, which she achieved Monday afternoon at the Ocean County Championships, now stands as the national high school record.

As she has in every meet this spring, the UCLA-bound senior came into Monday's meet hoping to surpass Raven Saunders of Burke High School in South Carolina. In 2014, Burke sent the shot 56-8 1/2, a national record that stood until Wilson recorded her historic mark at Jackson Liberty High School.

Coming into the spring, Wilson had high expectations after setting the indoor national record with a 57-5 1/2. She is now the only shot putter in high school history to break 57 feet twice in her career.

It gets better.

Wilson will have at least five more opportunities to add to her historic career. She will compete at the Shore Conference Championships Saturday before throwing the next three weekends at the NJSIAA Sectional Championships, Group Championships and Meet of Champions. She'll then be the favorite to defend her U.S. title at New Balance Nationals.

Over the next four weeks, Wilson will also try add to her legacy in the discus.

Last weekend, Wilson added nearly seven feet to her state record after launching a 182-0 at the Rowan University Open. That mark was good for 11th all time. The national record in the discus was set in 2012 when Shelbi Vaughan of Legacy High in Texas recorded a 198-9.
