LAKEWOOD - Authorities are investigating the Wednesday night armed robbery of a township gas station.
At approximately 8:40 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to a reported armed robbery at the BP gas station located at 1255 River Avenue.
When officers arrived, they learned that an unidentified male armed with a handgun rushed the attendant, who was inside the kiosk, Lakewood police said in a Facebook post.
The suspect took approximately $395 before fleeing the area on foot, police said.
The described as a black male, approximately 6-feet tall, who was wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt, a white t-shirt, blue jeans and shiny black and white sneakers at the time of the robbery, police said.
The Ocean County Sheriff's Department K9 Unit and the Crime Scene Investigations Unit assisted in the investigation.
