Last year, the annual 'Cops in Shops' program made 229 arrests
Police in 32 towns along the Shore are taking part in the annual summer ritual in which undercover officers hang out in and around liquor stores looking for underage customers.
The officers will also arrest people 21 and older who attempt to buy booze for those note of legal drinking age.
The participating towns received federal grants as part of the "Cops in Shops" program to participate.
Undercover police have been posing as customers, behind the counter or in the parking lot since June 23.
Last summer, 229 people were arrested across 27 Shore communities. The program is in its 21st year.
