Authorities are still looking for a hiker from New Jersey who went missing in the White Mountains of New Hampshire more than three weeks ago.

Gregory Auriemma, 53, of Brick, was last seen June 24 at the White Mountains Hostel in Conway, MassLive.com reported.

Auriemma, an attorney and head of the Sierra Club's Ocean County chapter, was believed to have stayed at Mizpah Spring Hut in Bean's Grant four days after he was at the hostel, but he hasn't been seen since, the report said.

A ground team has been searching for Auriemma. A National Guard Blackhawk helicopter has also been dispatched, according to UnionLeader.com.

"It's very troubling," said New Jersey Sierra Club President Jeff Tittle, who has known Aruiemma for nearly two decades. "I know this is something he's been planning, something he's been looking forward to. He wanted to go out there and enjoy nature."

Tittle said he saw Auriemma several months ago and the two spoke pretty regularly. Auriemma, an experienced hiker and longtime environmental activist who grew up in Bayonne, also serves on the executive committee of the New Jersey Sierra Club.

His sister-in-law, Kathy Auriemma, of Toms River, asked for help in finding him in a social media post Saturday afternoon. Gregory Auriemma was due home from his trip on July 5.

Gregory Auriemma is about 5-foot-11, weights between 180 and 200 pounds and has green eyes and grey hair. Anyone who has seen him is asked to call New Hampshire Fish & Game's law enforcement division at 603-271-3361.
