Thursday will be warm and pleasant, too
Fog could hamper the morning commute across much of New Jersey, but once that clears the main weather threat Wednesday could be the high risk of rip currents at the Jersey Shore from Tropical Storm Gert, forecasters say.
The dense fog advisory is in effect until 8 a.m., the National Weather Service says. Visibility could be reduced to a quarter-mile or less. Conditions shouldn't be nearly as bad in urban areas, the weather service says.
Drivers are advised to use their headlights, slow down and allow extra distance between cars.
Otherwise, it should be a warm, dry, mid-August day. The forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with very light winds highs in the upper 80s.
Temperatures should peak at 89 in Newark, 88 in Trenton, and 82 in Atlantic City.
Beachgoers are advised that there's a high risk of dangerous rip currents as Tropical Storm Gert churns in the ocean hundreds of miles off shore. The risk is high along the entire Jersey Shore, as well as along the Atlantic beaches in New York City, Long Island and Delaware.
It'll be mainly clear with a few clouds this evening as temps fall into the upper 60s and low 70s.
Thursday should be another nice day -- sunny with temps in the 80s. There's a chance of scattered afternoon showers or thunderstorms, though.
Strong storms are also a threat on Friday.
