It's the third high tide of the historic blizzard, and expected to be the last severe one. Watch video

TOMS RIVER -- The third high tide of a powerful winter storm that pummeled the Jersey Shore continued to pound away at a sand wall in Ortley Beach.

Large waves smacked against the shore, and chipped away at a large sand wall protecting the homes on the other side. Pieces of the wooden stairway leading down to the beach were floating around in the surf, and waves gradually pulled the dune fencing off the sand wall and toward the sea.

This was the third and last severe high tide that was expected to hit the Jersey Shore following the blizzard that could set records snowfall records.

Elsewhere along the Jersey Shore, Long Beach Island was hit hard by flooding.

More than 100,000 people lost power at points during the weekend. Hundreds of car crashes were reported. Regional transit was brought to a standstill, with planes grounded and trains halted.
