TOMS RIVER -- Police have charged a man in connection with six commercial burglaries earlier this month on Route 37.

The burglaries occurred between Feb. 7 and Feb. 14, and included the Oh What a Bagel store in Bayville and the B&B Party store in Lakewood, Toms River police Officer Ralph Stocco said.

Michael Guerino, 52, of Berkeley Township, was charged with numerous offenses, including burglary, theft by unlawful taking and criminal mischief.

Stocco said Guerino would break the front windows of the businesses and then ransack them looking for valuables and cash.

Authorities arrested Guerino on Feb. 16 at his home in the Silver Ridge section of Berkeley Township following a weeklong investigation, Stocco said.

At Guerino's residence, police found items stolen from the businesses.

He was taken to the Ocean County Jail and bail was set at $125,000.

Stocco said more charges are expected to be filed.
