A four-bedroom home set on nearly eight acres of land in Hunterdon County and a seven-bedroom beach house in Cape May are among the options.

A homebuyer willing to throw down more than three times the median sales price for a single-family property in New Jersey has a breadth of options from which to choose their next abode.

But higher-end house hunters still need to prioritize their real estate wish list. In the country's most densely-populated state, a change of zip code can mean the $1 million buys you a sizable estate, a small piece of land or a less than 1,000-square-foot condo.

A multi-family beach house in Lavellette comes with an asking price of $1 million, as does a four-bedroom home with ocean views in Ventnor. But don't expect to hide from your neighbors in either location. (More sprawling Shore residences can run as high as $40 million.)

Want acreage? Better to step away from the Jersey Shore.

N.J.'s 10 most expensive homes for sale -- that won't sell

In the woods of Hunterdon County, the price tag on a Cape Cod-style home sitting on nearly eight acres of land is $999,999. Or consider buying a ranch-style home sitting on roughly three acres of land in Morris County for the same price

Move closer to New York City and the lot sizes shrink.

A South Orange home up for sale for $1 million sits on a lot only 4,000 square feet larger than the home itself.

Take a look inside all of those homes, as well as 15 others throughout the state that on the market for roughly $1 million dollars, in the gallery above.
