One man told authorities Philip M. Caputo, 60, of Forked River, sexually assaulted him from ages 11 to 17, according to the Ocean County prosecutor.
FORKED RIVER -- A township man is accused of sexually assaulting three boys.
Philip M. Caputo, 60, was arrested Friday at his home on Musket Road and is charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault, one count of sexual assault and two counts of attempted sexual assault, Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato and Lacey police Chief Dave Paprota announced on Monday.
Authorities allege Caputo sexually assaulted on multipl occasions three boys he knew. One victim was assaulted from age 11 to 17.
The investigation started on Dec. 21, 2015, when a man contacted a member of the Ocean County Prosecutor's Special Victims Unit and reported that Caputo had sexually assaulted him on multiple occasions in 1998 when he was 12 years old, authorities said. The alleged assaults occurred in Lacey Township and in Florida.
A second man then came forward and told authorities Caputo had sexually assaulted him from ages 11 to 17, authorities said. A third victim also told investigators Caputo sexually assaulted him at age 11, according to the prosecutor's announcement.
Caputo was taken to the Ocean County Jail and bail was set at $200,000 cash. Ocean County Superior Court Judge James M. Blaney also ordered Caputo not to have contact with the alleged victims.
