LACEY -- A Waretown couple were arrested Saturday after police say they burglarized a home Tuesday and then sold some of the items on Craigslist.

Lawrence W. Mann, 31, and Shiabon Poff, 36, were each charged with burglary and theft, Lacey police Chief David A. Paprota said.

Paprota said the two entered a home late at night on Tampa Road in the Forked River Beach section of Lacey. The homeowner told police that he believed the pair gained entrance into the residence through an unlocked window in the rear of the house.

Mann and Poff stole a Spanish Provincial sterling silver flatware set valued at $2,000, two laptop computers and jewelry, Paprota said.

The flatware set was sold on Craigslist to a man from Toms River, who then sold it on eBay, a police investigation determined.

The investigation also determined the couple were using a blue Ford F150 pickup truck for the Tampa Road burglary and others in Waretown, Paprota said.

Authorities executed a search warrant at the couple's home on Willow Street in Waretown on Saturday morning, and found items from the Tampa Road burglary, the police chief said.

Mann was taken to the Ocean County Jail and bail was set at $20,000. He could face additional charges for burglaries committed in other towns.

Paprota, in a statement sent to news outlets, thanked detectives in Lacey Township and Ocean Township in Ocean County for their "exceptional work."

"Timely arrests, such as in this case, have been a major contributing factor in the drastic reduction of home burglaries being committed in Lacey Township to the lowest levels in over 30 years," Paprota said. "Excellent commitment and work by all involved."
