State Police are investigating a crash on the Garden State Parkway in Tom River in which a motorist was killed Saturday.
TOMS RIVER -- A motorcyclist was killed in a holiday weekend crash on the Garden State Parkway when he collided with the rear of a van driven by a teenager who was driving drunk, State Police said.
The collision occurred at 8:37 p.m. Saturday on the southbound lanes of the Parkway near exit 82, said State Police Sgt. Jeff Flynn.
He said the man was driving a Harley Davidson motorcycle when he collided with the rear of a Plymouth Voyager.
Details of the collision are limited as of Sunday morning, but Flynn said it appeared the Voyager, which was also heading south, was moving slow or was stopped in the road.
He said the van driver, 17, was charged with driving while intoxicated.
State Police did not release the name of the motorcyclist because they had not yet made contact with the victim's family.
Authorities said more information would be available on Sunday.
