LONG BEACH TWP. -- A contractor was arrested this month after he took hundreds of dollars for construction work that he never started, police said.
In October 2015, a homeowner in Long Beach Township on Long Beach Island signed a contract with building contractor Brian Dendall, police said.
The homeowner paid Dendall a $300 deposit, but police say Dendall never bought any materials and never started the construction work.
The victim contacted police in November 2016, and an investigation by the Long Beach Township Police Department led authorities to Dendall.
Dendall turned himself into police and was charged with theft by failure to make required disposition, failure to register with the state Division of Community Affairs, failure to display the registration number on the contract and failure to display the cancellation notice on the contract.
Police are asking any other victims in Long Beach Township and/or Barnegat Light to call Detective Patrick Mazzella at 609-361-2073.
