The charges were filed against Christopher Gilman, 38, of Jackson for the holdups of the same TD Bank branch in Howell three weeks apart last year, authorities said.

FREEHOLD -- Monmouth County authorities on Tuesday charged an accused bank robber with committing two other bank heists.

The charges were filed against Christopher Gilman, 38, of Jackson for the holdups of the same TD Bank branch in Howell three weeks apart last year, said acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni.

Gilman was served a copy of the complaints on Tuesday at the Ocean County Jail in Toms River where his is being held on charges he robbed a TD Bank branch in Toms River.

Gramiccioni said the first Howell holdup was at the Route 9 south branch on Oct. 10, 2014, when a man wearing a mask went inside at 6:59 p.m. just before closing. In demanding cash from the teller, the bandit indicated he had a weapon but didn't show one, the acting prosecutor said.

While detectives from Howell police and the prosecutor's office were conducting that investigation, the same branch was held up on Nov. 1, 2014, in a similar fashion, Gramiccioni said. In that case, a masked man went into the bank at 2:09 p.m., pushed a patron out of the way and approached a teller. The bandit demanded money and again indicated he had a weapon but didn't show one, the acting prosecutor said.

In both incidents, the thief made off with an undisclosed amount of money.

Gilman was identified as the culprit in those two cases based on the investigation by the prosecutor's office and Howell police along with the FBI and detectives from the Toms River, Jackson and Brick police departments, Gramiccioni said.

Bail in Monmouth County has been set at $200,000 with no 10-percent option.

Gilman has been in the Ocean County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bail on charges he robbed the TD Bank branch on Route 9 in Toms River on Oct. 14, 2014.  He was indicted on Sept. 30 on one count of armed robbery.

If convicted of robbery, Gilman faces up to 10 years in prison and would have to serve most of that before becoming eligible for parole.
