TOMS RIVER -- A man was arrested Sunday after he attempted to steal two GoPro cameras from the display counter at Kmart, police said.
Kristofer Coltenback, 38, of Manchester's Whiting section of town, first stole a pair of wire cutters from the store that he used to cut free the two GoPro cameras, said Officer Ralph Stocco, a spokesman for the Toms River Police Department.
On his way out of the Kmart, located on Route 37 east, a security guard approached Coltenback at around 1:30 p.m. Stocco said the guard found one of the cameras before Coltenback fled.

Toms River police Officer Robert Wesfall found Coltenback not too far away from the store. He initially told police the camera was his, but it still had the display sticker on it, Stocco said. The wire cutters were also in his pocket, the officer added.
Coltenback was charged with shoplifting and bail was set at $2,500.
